Bad Singing Example!
I’m sure that nearly everyone reading this has watched American Idol. The funniest (at times) but the worst part of that show are the bad singers who actually think they can sing. The especially sad ones are those who are a bit “slow”, developmentally disabled or even autistic (our son is autistic). Honestly those folks should not be made fun of on national television. Those auditons are so very sad becase the contestants are trying and in most cases just don’t understand that they are not singing well nor that people think they are funny.
But the aggravating and sad ones are the arrogant singers – yet they can’t really be called singers either. They have lousy vocal quality and and even worse demeanor, style and humility factor.
A good vocal coach could help many or most of these people with their singing, but it will take much more to make them into nice people. Here’s what I mean:

/ February 27, 2010I agree with you. Many of us take too much pleasure in the proverbial human “train wrecks” no matter how funny they may be. But arrogance is always hard to take. Singing is such a beautiful thing when done well, I just wish that people had a bit more discernment before making themselves a public singing spectacle. They can get voice training, it just seems that they really don’t understand their own need.
